Pamela's photoPamela DeSmidt
is the managing partner of Decision Support, which she started in 1985. She has extensive experience providing consulting services to industries and groups encompassing health care organizations, government agencies, and the private sector. Her background includes more than twenty-five years of experience in developing and applying analytical approaches to making difficult business decisions relating to strategic, operational and litigation issues, and in researching and "translating" complex issues and data into concise and understandable presentations.

Pamela has an undergraduate degree (in Planetary Science!?) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a master's degree in management from the Sloan School of Management, M.I.T., with concentrations in decision sciences and organization studies. Her master's thesis involved development and use of a statistically-based simulation model to assist in making scheduling policy decisions for a major surgical service at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Prior to becoming an independent consultant, Pamela worked in the Washington, D.C. office of Putnam, Hayes & Bartlett, an economic and management consulting firm.
